Down the woods for a bit of studying

Well it was the annual Queens University Belfast (QUB) Summer Lanes event last Saturday and COC Clifford Auld had found some new tracks and a marvelous start venue for this years event. Moving from the traditional area near Dundrod this years event started at the Carriage House on the Baronscourt Estate near Newtownstewart in Co. Tyrone with all the tests taking place in the forests on the estate.
A max entry of 70 cars was received and a total of 63 started the event with a couple of visitors over from Scotland to check out the Lanes. 2013 event winners Eamonn Byrne and Joanna Lenehan lead the field away after the formalities of signing on, scrutiny and breakfast were completed. The first of 23 tests was a short drive from the start and it was in fact visitors Neil Campbell and Sandy Horne in their Mk1 Escort who were joint with the Micra of Raymond and Matthew Mason.
